CULVERT & DRIVEWAY ORDINANCE

A.  All driveways in the town must be approved prior to construction.

B.  The landowner is responsible for construction of driveway and cost for culvert except when paragraphs F and G apply.

C.  All driveways must meet Town requirements as to width, depth, height, and location.

D.  All culverts must meet town requirements as to length, diameter, and strength.

E.  No culvert may be removed from a Town road right-of-way without Town Board approval.

F.  When Town roads are being resurfaced or other types of work being done, driveway culverts may be replaced at Town Board discretion.

G.  The town will pay for driveway culverts being replaced during road construction.

H.  Any landowner installing, removing, or altering any driveway without Town Board approval will be charged an inspection fee of $70.00 plus cost of any repairs or corrections necessary.  This charge will be placed on the tax roll if not paid.  If second inspection is required, an additional fee of $50.00 will be charged.

I.  Minimum culvert size will be 26 feet, plus wings, by 15 inch diameter.  Town Board will determine actual size.

J.  All driveways will have minimum 12 foot driving surface with 24 foot free clearance.

K.  All culverts removed from a town right-of-way during construction will become the property of the Town.  Used culverts replaced at residents expense will be their property.

L.  Used culverts will be inspected by Town Board and sold at a cost determined by the Town Board.

M.  All culverts must be made of steel construction.  No vinyl, plastic, or other type of material may be used.

N.  Driveway markers shall be placed so as not to interfere with snowplowing, grass cutting, or other roadwork or emergency vehicles.
