The town has owned this 40 acre parcel for years.  Only 5 acres of the 40 was used for the old town land fill.  It was leveled and capped (to state standards) many years ago with several feet of soil,  and is now a beautiful field surrounded by woods.

There is the compost site
currently being used by the town.

In November 2007 the Town Chairman and Park Commission members walked the open field to discuss its uses.

Present ideas for the field include using it for recreational events like soccer, football, baseball, and winter sledding.

Members of the Park Commission walked the remaining 35 acres of woods to mark a trail system that will be used for things like nature walks, bicycling, and cross-country skiing.

The wooded land is filled with natural beauty . . .

including dear trails and buck rubs . . .

and dear beds.

The thick woods have a large variety of trees,

Enjoy the quiet, peaceful serenity of the woods as you sit next to the pond and watch the wildlife around you.
In the summer you can read a book or have a picnic.  In the winter you can ice skate.

h Park Development g

The town already has a Comprehensive Outdoor Recreational Plan created and is now in the process of taking the first steps towards developing the park.

One of the first thing that needs to be done is to clear a trail system throughout the 35 acres of woods.  Trees and brush will have to be cut and cleared, and board walks may have to be built in certain areas, which there are grants for.  The town is applying for a grant through the Dept of Transportation that will pay 80% of our new trail system through the woods.  A driveway and parking area will have to be put in, and then we can haul in material to build a sledding hill.  Eventually a shelter will be built.

The town is looking for volunteers to help with the development of this park.  If you would like to volunteer your services in any way, or would like to join the Park Commission, please contact Richard Huben at (920) 822-3505.

You do not have to be a member of this committee to contribute your ideas or services.  If you are not able to make the meetings (which are held and posted as needed), you can always email your ideas and comments by clicking HERE.
